You are currently viewing Parrot’s Warning: A Fable on Anger Management

Once upon a time, there was a king who found himself lost in a vast forest and, feeling extremely thirsty, searched desperately for water. To his delight, he spotted a tree with small water droplets falling from its branches. The king, eager to quench his thirst, approached the tree and began collecting the precious water using leaves fashioned into a makeshift bowl.

Despite the considerable time it took to fill the bowl, the king was overjoyed when it was finally full. However, his happiness was short-lived as a parrot flying nearby knocked the bowl, causing all the water to spill. Frustration and anger overwhelmed the king. After taking a moment to calm himself, he attempted to collect water again, only to have the parrot knock the bowl once more. Now infuriated, the king resorted to using his sword to fill the bowl. As he prepared to drink, the parrot flew at him, prompting the king to take its life in a fit of rage.

Contemplating the idea of collecting water from the tree once more, the king realized it would be a time-consuming process. Instead, he decided to trace the water’s source and stumbled upon a sleeping python on a branch. The realization struck him – the python’s saliva had made the water poisonous. The king deeply regretted killing the parrot, understanding that it had tried to save him from consuming the toxic liquid.

The moral of the story is clear – anger not only harms us but can also have far-reaching consequences. It is akin to poison, and the tale implores us to exercise control over our anger for our well-being and the well-being of others.
